Festival Overview

The Casterton Kelpie Festival is held each year on the Saturday of the Australian Kelpie Muster.

The Kelpie Festival is a fun filled day for all the family with local retailers and market stalls, food vendors and loads of entertainment for the children with Kelpie Kids, animal nursery and much more.

Visitors each year witness the amazing talents of the kelpie breed through a number of events such as the Kelpie Dash, Kelpie Hill Climb or the prized Kelpie High Jump where Casterton holds the World Record height of 2.951 metres.

Kelpie Owners are encouraged to get involved in several ‘kelpie’ related activities – from the annual Street Parade right through to the challenging and prized Kelpie Triathlon Event – combining the Kelpie Dash, Kelpie High Jump and the Kelpie Hill Climb.

Each competitor needs to attend the Town Hall steps from 8am on Saturday to confirm their registration and receive their official CKA Competitors Lanyard and ID Number. Please read the Conditions of Entry and Definition of a Kelpie pages here before entering.
