Australian Premier Working Dog Auction – 2026
Auction entries for the 2026 Australian Premier Working Dog Auction have now closed.
Hosted by the Casterton Kelpie Association, the Australian Premier Working Dog Auction is widely regarded as the nation’s leading auction of elite working Kelpies. Established in 1996 by the local Apex Club, the Auction has grown into a signature event of the Australian Kelpie Muster and a benchmark for working dog breeding and performance across Australia.
In 2024, the Auction reached a significant milestone, with total turnover since inception surpassing $4 million. In 2021, the event also achieved a remarkable highlight — setting a new World Record with the sale of the highest-priced working dog at $35,200, underscoring the national and international standing of this auction.
Working Dog demonstrations will commence at 9:30am at Island Park, Casterton, providing spectators with an opportunity to see elite working Kelpies in action ahead of the main event. The Auction will then take place at 3:00pm, conducted both in person and online via AuctionsPlus.
For those participating remotely, pre-bidding will open at 12:00pm on Sunday 1 June 2026 and will close at 2:30pm on Sunday 7 June 2026.
Prospective vendors are encouraged to carefully review the Information and Conditions of Entry before completing the online Entry Form. To maximise exposure for your dog, entrants are asked to submit a link to their YouTube video or email their video for uploading to the Auction website, Facebook page, and AuctionsPlus platform.
Videos play a critical role in showcasing your dog’s abilities, and we strongly recommend providing a high-quality YouTube video to ensure the greatest reach and visibility prior to the Auction. Please also refer to the Working Standards document for category criteria.
